THE POSITION

Reporting to the Team Manager, Pilot Plant and Process Science, the Biotechnician DSP will be responsible for carrying out the production of biopharmaceutical active ingredients at a pilot scale (up to 200L bioreactor). The role will focus on the purification activities such as buffer preparation, devices set up, chromatography/TFF/filtration and in process analytics.

As part of the pilot team, flexible support as needed for USP and other activities are expected within the scope of the Pilot Plant.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Execution and documentation of pilot runs (up to 200L, DSP part) within the scope and timelines of work packages for clients or internal initiatives

- Document the executed work in protocols and batch records in accordance to good laboratory practices and Celonic guidelines

- Report batch results with a critical mind

- Participate in troubleshooting on both pilot equipment and processes, in collaboration with the project scientists

- Support USP activities when needed

- Support the technology transfers to commercial facilities

- Report Environmental, Health and Safety ( EHS) gaps and/or incidents and initiate EHS improvements

- All other activities as requested by the Team Manager, Pilot Plant and Process Science

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- University degree in scientific or engineering disciplines or equivalent vocational training with background in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related

- 3+ years relevant hands-on industry experience.

- Proficient in mammalian purification work

- Experience with DSP pilot scale devices (e.g. harvest & viral filtrations operations, chromatography devices, UF/DF devices…) and automation systems

- Flexible, adaptive and a collaborative team player

- Ability to work independently and self-disciplined to meet the given timelines

- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

- Knowledge of cGMP is a plus

- You are available for weekend/shift work and on-call duty

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

- You are Fluent in English (Spoken and written). German is a plus
