Heavy diesel mechanics respond to service requests and repair and maintain the mechanical and electrical systems of heavy vehicles and machinery, including trucks, buses, construction equipment, and other diesel-powered vehicles. They specialize in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and ensure the proper functioning of electrical and electronic components.

Tasks required by this job include:

Performing visually checks, test drives, or using test equipment to diagnose engine and mechanical faults

Diagnosing faults in electrical/electronic circuitry, including removing faulty components, fitting replacements, and carrying out servicing tasks to ensure the proper functioning of electrical/electronic systems.

Carry out routine maintenance checks on oil and air filters, brakes, and other vehicle parts/systems, as well as checking the condition of electrical/electronic systems and performing servicing tasks.

Remove, dismantle, repair, and replace defective parts, including retrofitting engines, adjusting steering brakes, changing hydraulic fluid, brakes, and other worn-out parts, and preparing new parts using appropriate tools.

Disassembling and reassembling parts of heavy diesel vehicles or machines to replace, repair, or recalibrate components

Reassembling, testing, adjusting, and tuning the appropriate parts, systems, or entire engine

Routine integration and use of computerized equipment along with pneumatic wrenches, lathes, pliers, welding torches, hydraulic jerks, precision gauges, screwdrivers, and mallets by heavy diesel mechanics

Using the onboard computer program to find problems or make adjustments

Adhering to strict safety protocols and guidelines when working with heavy diesel machinery or handling hazardous materials.

Maintaining accurate documentation and records for all maintenance and repair activities to ensure compliance and facilitate future reference.

Requirements:

Work experience as Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Strong diagnostic skills

General computer literacy

Fluent written and spoken English and Portuguese

Hard working and enthusiastic
