Early Years Educator. Border. Irlanda

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new facility opening in September 2024. The Service plans to provide a Breakfast Club, ECCE Scheme, and Afterschool and place an emphasis on outdoor and child led play. The role of the Early Years Educator is to support and assist in the provision of full time day care of the highest quality in a holistic child-led setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide physical, emotional, social and cognitive education and care for children in the service

Be adaptive and responsive to the different needs and interests of different children

Devise age appropriate engagement and activities both indoor and outdoor

Take direction from the room leader

Prepare work areas; organise materials appropriately, maintain equipment in working order, consider accessibility for children.

Clean work areas and observe the highest hygiene practices

Be familiar with and implement policies and procedures of the organisation

Assist children with toileting and feeding as appropriate

Conduct observations of children under the direction of the Room Leader

Maintain strict confidentiality and follow reporting procedures

Attend meetings and/or training as appropriate

Be aware of child protection and reporting procedures should any issues arise

Work off site when needed - for example bus trips and visits to local amenities

Attend & participate in supervision meetings

Attend staff meetings for planning purposes as required

Be in good health to meet the demands of the job

Any other duties that may be assigned to you by Management

Essential Qualifications and Skills

NFQ/Fetac Level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education

Kindness, warmth and responsiveness to the needs of children

The ability to work as part of a team and to take direction

Complete Garda Vetting

A genuine love for the early years sector

A desire to help build a new facility of the highest standard

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

NFQ/FETAC Level 6 in Early Childhood Care and Education

Minimum 1 Year work experience/work placement hours in a similar role or relevant qualification

Children First/Child Protection certification

An understanding of the Access Inclusion Model

Experience of outdoor play and education

NFQ Level 5 in Occupational First Aid or equivalent

Experience working with children from a range of age groups
