CLN - Nurse In Charge. South-West. Irlanda

Ardfoyle Convent, Ballintemple, T12Y304 (Near- Pairc Ui Choimh).

We are recruiting a Nurse in Charge to join our health care team for our purpose built Infirmary- 13 single rooms with ensuite facilities.

Approx 24/36 Hours - 4/5 Days per week.

Registered Nurse- Must have Nursing Qualifications and a valid NMBI Pin.

Experience in a nursing leadership role.

Fluent level of English, both verbal and written.

Must be permitted to work full time in Ireland.

Must have strong communication and listening skills.

Excellent management of patient health, needs and wellbeing.

Excellent clinical care skills.

Main Responsibilities:                    

· Use of best practice & promoting patient centred care        

· To develop clinical expertise, leadership and teaching skills through nursing practice

· Visiting each patient daily in their rooms- listening to their concerns,  offering emotional & psychological support

· Monitoring & recording blood pressure, temperature, bowel, blood sugar for diabetics & all vital signs etc.

· Injections, catheter changes, bloods and Insulin administration, wound dressing etc.

· Infection prevention & control                   

· To participate with medical personnel and other disciplines in total care of patients

· Making appointments with GP's, hospitals, dentists and chiropodists etc.

· Maintaining patients care plans, medical records including medications, multidisciplinary notes, hospital appointments & dependency levels etc.

· Preparing and administrating medications on a daily basis- as prescribed

· Ordering of incontinence wear

· Forwarding prescriptions to pharmacy to be dispensed

· Checking the monthly medicines on return from the pharmacy, record and file same

· Practice a positive approach to health promotion and encourage junior colleagues in this attitude

· Oversee HCA's and provide advice, support and training where necessary

· To supervise Nurses & HCA's- to achieve maximum productivity and continuity of care

· To ensure all health care team treat residents with empathy, consideration and respect

· Comply with all safety regulations and to manage incidents/accidents and to put preventative measures in place- including staff retraining & environment changes

· To ensure a good working environment exists within the Unit (Patients, Nurses, Staff, Management & Community etc).
