About the job

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Fundraising and Grants Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in securing the financial resources necessary to advance our mission. The ideal candidate will have a passion for environmental causes and a proven track record in fundraising, grant management and organisational development at the international level.

In the coming period Bellona will be undergoing an organisational change to facilitate increased impact and optimised internal process flow. This will require dedicated senior staff across our offices to implement an organisational development plan, also focusing on digital transformation. The Global Fundraising and Grants Manager will work closely with and report to the Global Chief Operating Officer. The organisational change process will most likely lead to the establishment of a Global Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in due course, but in the interim, the global fundraising and grants manager will also, together with senior management be responsible for managing our financial strategy, budgets, and reports to ensure the financial health and integrity of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Global:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global fundraising strategy, encompassing individual donors, corporate partnerships and government grants.
  • Support in identifying, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with existing and potential donors and partners.
  • Coordinate with and support colleagues so that the organisation manage the entire grant cycle, from researching relevant opportunities to preparing proposals and reports, as well as financial reports.
  • Designs (or refreshes) Bellona's monitoring and evaluation framework for approval by the international management team, including KPIs
  • Designs and deploys project templates and reporting systems to track progress against impact/performance goals (e.g., project planning document etc.)
  • Monitors, collates and aggregates quantitative and qualitative data on KPIs laid out in the monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for discussion in Board/ international management team meetings
  • Monitor and analyse fundraising data to report on progress and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Stay informed about environmental issues and trends in global fundraising and grant-making.

Oslo office:

  • Oversee budget planning, management, and reporting processes in the Bellona Oslo office.
  • Collaborate with department heads, and office managers/financial staff in other Bellona office to optimize financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • As and when needed, support colleagues in liaising with external auditors and managing the audit process.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum a Bachelor's degree in a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fundraising and grant management, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Substantial experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of the global fundraising landscape, including donor relations, grant writing, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficient in PCM/CRM software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Working proficiency in Norwegian and fluency in English is required.
